During the cold, dark days over the Christmas season, Valkenburg will be offering a number of special events. Below, you will find a list of the various activities that you can expect during the Christmas period in Valkenburg aan de Geul:
Christmas Parade
This magnificent collection of floats, dancers and animators will parade through the centre of Valkenburg every Wednesday evening and every Saturday evening.
Professor Falckstein and his “Magicalibration”
Professor Falckstein with his “Magicalibrateur” will take pride of place during the various activities. For example, he will have his own spectacular lightshow, the "Magicalibration” and take part in the Christmas Parade.
Route d’Amuse
The Route d’Amuse is a waymarked trail through the charming old town centre of Valkenburg. On your walk you can step into any of the 5 well-known bars or cafes to enjoy a delightful amuse. Children have their own special route d’amuse involving a treasure hunt. These waymarked trails are available from the Limburg Shop (Limburg Winkel) at the South Limburg tourist information office (VVV Zuid-Limburg) and at The Readshop.
Christmas market at the Gemeentegrot (Municipal Cave)
The oldest subterranean Christmas Market in Europe with a rich history. This will take place from 20 November to 23 December 2009.
Christmas market at the Fluweelengrot (Velvet Cave)
Underground Christmas Market from Friday 20 November to Tuesday 22 December 2009 based on the ‘Charles Dickens Christmas Carol’ theme.
